Owow gives back: The Haircare that Cares
We donate €1 for each order placed in April-July 2021 to Enoch Village - a educational children helping center in Madagascar.
A lot of heart, attention and care goes into our product range and the same is true of my company decisions, so keeping compassion and kindness in mind with all OWOW’s actions is incredibly important to me as the founder.
When I started OWOW I wanted to create a female-led beauty business that made people feel good by making expensive salon services accessible and convenient to everyone. The mission has always been to make gorgeous treated tresses effortless, affordable and kinder to your hair and the planet, but from day one, I’ve also wanted to do good with my business. Photo-worthy hair is a privilege after all, and having a deeper meaning and business impact beyond the perfect hair day is something that’s always been important to me.
That’s why every quarter one employee gets to choose a charity organisation close to their heart - which we donate €1 per each order we receive. This quarter I got to choose a organisation close to my heart - Enoch Village. I’ve been personally supporting this organisation as a sponsor for a few years now, sponsoring a sweet girl called Kanto and it is amazing to now be able to help the organisation on a wider scale - thanks to the Owow community!
Enoch Village: An educational charity for children in Madagascar
A female-founded charity based in Madagascar, Enoch Village is the brainchild of self-starter Ravaka Ihariely who singlehandedly set up the foundation and self- funded it, establishing a network of worldwide sponsors to help with her mission to support disadvantaged children with their educational needs. Enoch Village is all about positively impacting children’s futures by giving them the tools, experiences and support to excel with their education, grow their confidence, discover their talents and take them further.
Longterm sponsorship that makes a difference
Their sponsorship programme helps to provide everything from school supplies to tuition fees, uniforms and books but Enoch Village not only helps with much needed essentials, including healthy meals, it also provides a compassionate and creative environment for learning and development, with interactive crafting activities, science projects, dance lessons and tutoring to give underprivileged children fun opportunities to inspire their futures.
It’s this commitment to having a positive social impact that I find so inspiring plus the fact Ravaka set up the charity by herself and has been able to make a lasting 2 difference to children’s lives, staying by their side throughout their most important years.
Support that shows
Enoch Village has been going since 2016 and has sponsors from many different countries who support individual children on a long term basis. What I love is the genuine care taken to inspire and support the children at Enoch Village and the way I’ve been able to feel a part of Kanto’s journey as we exchange letters and pictures.
The charity regularly keeps me informed with updates and there’s a personal attention to detail that can sometimes be missing in more corporate sponsorship 3 programmes. I’ve been able to see firsthand, through our correspondence and the occasional video call, the way Kanto’s confidence has grown and how the activities at Enoch Village have had a positive impact in shaping her life.
A €1 donation from every OWOW product sold between April and June will go directly to Enoch Village. If you’d like more information on becoming a longterm sponsor yourself then visit Enoch Village for more info.
